Why we need natural lubrication in business too

It was getting hot and steamy on the couch. He grabbed me and took me to the bedroom, where he pulled something from a nightstand drawer. He then sqeezed a transparent gel into his hand. I asked him what he was going to do with this substance. “Nothing,” he said. “Just some lubrication to make the sex more pleasurable.”

I was surprised; for many years I had had amazing sex, without the need for extra lubrication. I was wondering why he wouldn’t just do a better job. After all, my body can create its own natural lubrication just fine with the right stimulus. I am a huge fan of –and believer in– natural lubrication. That is simply the effect of having fun together.

I was so excited about this, until…

So what does this have to do with the projects and programs in the title of this blogpost? I’ve been asked to be part of an amazing project called Manifestation Goddesses. It is an international empowerment project that is about nine manifestation goddesses from different places around the world. Each of these goddesses has a BIG dream that they will work on for nine months to make their dream come true. I am one of the nine coaches that has been asked to coach the participants.

This is the first time I am just one of the project members instead of the program designer or the lead coach. The project team has the lead in this project. I was really excited to meet all the members of the project team and the other eight coaches.

While we were having the (online) meeting I was wondering why I didn’t feel the rush I felt when I spoke to the person that started the project. I was wondering why this kick-off didn’t feel like the party with tons of soulfood that I expected after speaking to one of the founders of this project.

How I create natural lubrication

And then it dawned on me. When I organise important sessions or events I always spend as much attention on the content as on the process we go through. I always make sure that the participants feel really connected to themselves, the subject, and each other. And I make sure that these elements are strongly intertwined. The effect of doing this is that the participants:

► are so happy to be there that they often don’t want to stop or leave and even ask if we can do it again or more often;

► are so engaged that they want to stay connected in any shape, way or form;

► know exactly what I do, what they can do themselves, and what we’ll do together.

It could have been better

Don’t get me wrong: all the individuals in this project are ab-so-lute-ly AMAZING people. I only wished that the kick-off allowed us all to shine and enjoy ourselves to the max.

If I were to compare this project kick-off with having sex: the sex was fine but we didn’t have enough lubrication. I wish we had had more foreplay and fun focused on creating optimal social cohesion.

I really hope that the project team will take the time to focus on how we can enjoy natural lubrication during our high-tech and high-touch activities.

Give me pleasure

I am grateful that I am part of this amazing passion project. It is good and powerful for me to let go and receive instead of take the lead and be in control.

This is a true challenge for me and totally outside of my comfort zone. And I guess that is a good thing, because not only will the manifestation goddesses go through a process these nine months. We, as coaches, will do, too! I’m looking forward to increasing excitement throughout this project, without me lifting a finger to make that happen. 😀
